臂架式起重機(jī)的特點(diǎn)與橋式起重機(jī)基本相同?？稍趫A形場(chǎng)地及其上空作業(yè)，多用于露天裝卸及安裝等工作，有門座起重機(jī)、浮游起重機(jī)、桅桿起重機(jī)、壁行起重機(jī)和甲板起重機(jī)等。臂架式起重機(jī)包括：起升機(jī)構(gòu)、變幅機(jī)構(gòu)、旋轉(zhuǎn)機(jī)構(gòu)。依靠這些機(jī)構(gòu)的配合動(dòng)作，可使重物在一定的圓柱形空間內(nèi)起重和搬運(yùn)。臂架式起重機(jī)多裝設(shè)在車輛上或其他形式的運(yùn)輸（移動(dòng)）工具上，這樣就構(gòu)成了運(yùn)行臂架式旋轉(zhuǎn)起重機(jī)。如汽車式起重機(jī)、輪胎式起重機(jī)、塔式起重機(jī)、門座式起重機(jī)、浮式起重機(jī)、鐵路起重機(jī)等。工作水平高，起重能力不大，即使兩臺(tái)起重機(jī)重量相同，但工作水平不同，各部件的安全系統(tǒng)也不同。
